Four by Five: Large Format Photography
This exhibition features photographs made by students enrolled in Mark Zimmerman’s Large Format Photography course over the past few years. Throughout the semester, students work exclusively with large format view cameras that use 4 × 5 inch black-and-white film. Images are composed on a ground glass screen, where the subject appears upside down and reversed before a single sheet of film is exposed. The process demands patience, discipline, and attention to detail, encouraging photographers to slow down and to think carefully about what deserves to be photographed.
